LENS MATERIALS

Our offices offer state of the art optical lenses for all prescriptions, including single vision lenses, bifocal lenses trifocal lenses, and progressive lenses. Your lenses will be made of CR-39 plastic, polycarbonate, high-index plastic or glass. The material we recommend will depend on your prescription, age, lifestyle, and budget.

CR-39 Plastic

Popular for its low cost and light weight.

Polycarbonate

Lighter and more impact-resistant than CR-39 plastic. Great for children!

High-index Plastic

Thinner and lighter lenses. No more coke bottle lenses!

Glass

Excellent optical qualities and scratch resistant, but much heavier and more breakable than plastic.

Lens Treatment

There are many surface treatments available that can enhance the clarity and aesthetics of your glasses. Antireflective lenses are a very popular choice because, by reducing surface glare, they allow you to see better and look better. Many other options are available such as UV protection, anti-scratch coatings and polished lens edges. Our optical technicians will suggest the best lens treatments for you prescription and lifestyle.

Sun Protection

We offer many different tint options in lenses from traditional gray and brown to trendier red and purple. Another exciting option is Transitions®, which is a lens that automatically darkens and lightens based on available sunlight. This product is desirable because it offers visual comfort, the convenience of not having to switch from glasses to sunglasses, and protection against UV rays. Another option, Polarized Lenses, addresses both brightness and glare by filtering out light that is reflected off of flat surfaces like water or blacktop. These lenses are a favorite of watersport enthusiasts and snow skiers alike.
