Dr. Demosthenous moved to Kansas City in late 2018 from Ohio, and already feels like part of the Eye Associates family. She is a Flyer at heart, as she attended the University of Dayton; after UD, she went on to The Ohio State University for optometry school. During her time in Columbus, she was involved in volunteering for services in eye care internationally (SVOSH) and with an organization dedicated to diversity in the optometric profession (NOSA).
In her final year at Ohio State, she had internships at the VA hospital in Vermont and the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Upon her completion of her optometric degree in 2011, she moved to Cincinnati and completed an ocular disease residency at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Demosthenous stayed at CEI in the cornea/anterior segment department for a few years, specifically helping patients in the corneal transplant division.
Upon getting married and moving back to Columbus, she worked at private practices, helping families with routine eye care or specialty contact lens care, and part-time in the hospital in the neuro-ophthalmology department. Currently, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Demosthenous loves to travel, learn new languages, and try new foods. She is excited for a new chapter in her life and career, as her husband was matched at KU Med for his residency, which prompted them to move here with their baby daughter and old bulldog.
