Nicholas A. Pennipede Memorial Scholarship Winner: Nabeel Hakeem-Olowu Fall 2022

Congratulations to Nabeel Hakeem-Olowu, an incoming Sophomore, Fall 2023 in Chemical Engineering at Widener University, in Chester, PA.

Nabeel is our Fall 2022 Nicholas A. Pennipede Memorial Scholarship winner! He received $1,000 from Eye Associates to apply toward his education. Nabeel has had to overcome many challenges while working on his eduction. He wrote, in part:

"As a West African, I have faced many challenges, which include epileptic power supply, badwater supply, and high rates of poverty. I persisted for fourteen years before moving to theUnited States. I aspire to be a senior chemical engineer someday. I am passionate about hardwork, sports, and volunteering. Through my perseverance and hardship, I have become anambitious, goal-focused, self-disciplined individual who is driven by a strong personal desire toaccomplish meaningful and important goals. I have attained a 3.95 GPA, an SAT score of 1570,4000 community service hours, and a strong mathematical background, along with a thorough understanding of science subjects. I see giving back to the community as an integral part of one's life."
